TICKLER BRANDED 'EXCELLENT' AT CATERER AND HOTELKEEPER FOOD AND DRINK AWARDS

Tickler, the fabulous extra mature cheddar from Milk Link's The Cheese Company, triumphed at the 2008 Caterer and Hotelkeeper Excellence in Food and Drink Awards held in London at the Dorchester Hotel last Friday. Tickler was awarded first place in the Cheese, Dairy and Milk Products category, beating off stiff competition.

Tickler was an all-round favourite with this year's judges for its sweet and tangy, strong and tasty flavour. One judge praised the cheddar's "creamy texture and unique flavour that isn't too sharp" while another added that the flavour "stays on your palette". The judges also liked the packaging and distinctive name and one judge added that the "tangy Cheddar is by far the best cheese".

Commenting on this recent win, Rebecca Miah, Senior Brand Manager for The Cheese Company said, "We are delighted to be awarded this prestigious honour from Caterer and Hotelkeeper. It is testament to the quality of our cheese and the commitment of our Taw Valley staff."

The award rounds off a fantastic year for the Tickler brand, it having in February also won The Grocer magazine's "Branded Excellence Awards" in the retail cheese category and in July been named Supreme Champion at The Royal Welsh Show. Since the launch of Tickler early last year it has had outstanding growth in retail and In OOH Tickler is listed in 3663 for Greene King where it is featured on the Wayside Inns menus. Whilst in the out of home sector Tickler is now appearing on an increased number of menus and cheese boards.

The Caterer and Hotelkeeper Excellence in Food and Drink Awards ceremony is an opportunity to applaud products that fulfil the needs of restaurants and food outlets, meet the expectations of increasingly demanding consumers and contribute that little bit extra to the dining experience. The panel of experts sampled and assessed nearly 200 products across all categories, before arriving at a shortlist of 61 products deemed to deliver that bit extra in terms of taste, appearance and usability.
